I called this one Quiet Confluence because that's exactly what it feels like — a moment where two creatures and one small place all arrive at the same time. Neither bird is in a hurry. They're just there, at the water's edge, doing what birds do.
Cedar waxwings are some of my favorite subjects. That yellow tail tip. The way they carry themselves — compact, dignified, a little mysterious. I wanted the stones to feel as important as the birds here. Smooth, heavy, ancient. The water almost disappears between them, but it's the whole reason everyone showed up.
