"Under the Blue Veil"

$325.00

I painted this one on a cold morning when the light felt blue all the way through.

The peacock isn't showing off. He's just standing there, quiet and self-possessed, while the world around him goes dark and cool. That contrast is what stopped me — this intensely alive creature against all that deep midnight blue. I kept the background loose and textured, almost like old walls after a hard rain. Then I let his feathers do the work. Cobalt. Teal. That unexpected flash of white at his crest.

The magenta at his feet was the last thing I added. It felt necessary — just enough warmth to keep the painting from going cold.

It's 12 × 12 inches, acrylic on board, and it comes framed. Small enough to tuck into a quiet corner. Big enough to change the feeling of a room.
