This is the view I get to wake up to — my northeastern view, with a sweet neighbor couple's house anchored into the hillside and the junipers shaded behind the nearby hills. I painted it for that early light, the way the backside of the hills goes a soft, cool purple just before the sun crests their tops. Their rooftop anchors the whole scene, a bit of home among all that wild green and violet, and it felt right to name it after that steadiness and how my neighbor says the house makes her feel.
